Site work and renovation of a civil project in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.
Upgrades to the Adam Beck Power Canal, which includes three underground tunnels, the 13.7-kilometre canal carved through the city of Niagara Falls diverts water from the Welland and Niagara rivers to the Sir Adam Beck (SAB) Power Complex, which includes the Sir Adam Beck I, and II generating stations as well as the SAB Pump Generating Station. The scope of work will include draining the Canal in 2022 and 2023 to undertake concrete rehabilitation, grouting, vegetation management, rock slope stabilization, and debris removal. The total project length is 13.7 km and 10.7 m deep. TIMELINE: Project remains on hold. Consultant completed a condition survey in 2017 and 2018 and recommended the scope of work. The refurbishment of the power canal is being explored as a potential project, however a timeline to proceed has yet to be determined. Further update spring /summer 2026. *Refurbishment has been estimated at approx. 1 billion.
