Site work and renovation of a civil project in Chatsworth, Georgia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a water / sewer project; and for site work for a water / sewer project.
As of April 25, 2023, further details regarding design and construction have not been identified. The Chatsworth Water Works Commission (CWWC) requests qualified individuals and firms (Consultants) with experience in engineering, design and program management services, to submit qualifications to provide Professional Engineering Services for PFAS removal alternatives including design of removal systems at current water treatment facilities and/or construction of new facilities. Design will also include distribution system upgrades to allow for additional storage and transportation of finished water. All questions regarding this RFQ should be addressed to Stephen Smith, General Manager, via e-mail: steves@chatsworthwater.com with the title "RFQ Question(s)" in the subject line. Each firm shall have one point of contact for submitting questions. All questions concerning the RFQ shall be submitted via email only no later than 4:30PM. on Monday, March 27, 2023. Questions received after this time & date will not receive a response. All valid questions and responses will be addressed via addenda and distributed via e-mail to all listed participants by 4:30 PM, March 31, 2023. Currently CWWC has two (2), two million gallons per day (2MGD) Micro Flock treatment facilities. The first treatment facility is located at Carters Lake in southern Murray County, the source water for this plant has the lowest PFAS levels of all the existing and potential raw water sources we have tested within the CWWC service area, as well as the greatest potential for additional capacity allocation in the future. This plant is located at the most southern end of our water system with limited finished water storage making transmission and distribution a concern when trying to move the finished water throughout the CWWC service area. The second existing water treatment facility currently operated by CWWC is the Eton Water Plant, which receives its raw water from two nearby springs, the Eton Spring and O'Neal Spring. Eton Spring is the larger spring but contains higher levels of PFAS as a result this source is no longer in use. O'Neal Spring is a smaller source volumetrically and has recently had positive results for PFAS at smaller concentration levels than Eton Spring. The plant is centrally located in the county for better distribution, but has no availability for capacity expansion for future needs. Other potential water sources within our geographic service area include the Coosawattee River and the Conasauga River. CWWC currently has a water withdrawal permit to withdraw 2MGD from the Coosawattee River which is located on the extreme southern end of the system making distribution difficult. The water source is stable with little fluctuation due to being controlled by releases from Carters Lake, making it a better source for drought contingency, water quality is stable, incoming turbidity can be higher, and with low PFAS levels. There is also potential for expanded capacity above the current permit levels. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
