Questions regarding the project shall be submitted in writing to matthewvjohnson@johnston.k12.nc.us. Johnston County Public Schools invites contractors to bid on the rubberized resurfacing of the existing track, long-jump, high-jump, and pole vault areas at Cleveland High School located at 1892 Polenta Road, Clayton, NC 27520. The project consists of: complete removal and replacement of the rubberized surfacing material, including the pole vault, long-jump, and high-jump areas. Stripping and a top coat protectant surfacing is also requested. An alternate 1 is requested to provide a 1.5" S-9.5A overlay of the existing asphalt after the surfacing is removed. It is the intent that this project is finished during summer 2023 and before the fall sports season starts on August 9, 2023. Manufacturer requirements for the proposed system shall be followed including ample curing times of all items Johnston County Public Schools intends to accept the lowest, responsible bidder and reserves the right to reject any and all bids and waive any informalities. IFB No. 200-JCPSFS-03072023-CR, must be present and clearly labeled on the outer shipping package/envelope, otherwise the bid may be rejected. The Bid Documents consist of this Invitation to Bid and the following specifications, addenda, and any other documents issued prior to submission of bids. It is understood that all documents provided prior to bid are for award of bid only. A contract made under the governing laws of the State of North Carolina will follow board approval. Johnston County Public Schools reserves the right to reject any and all bids, waive informalities and irregularities, and to accept bids which are determined to be in the best interest of the school system. Sealed Bids must be accompanied with a bid bond or certified check for the amount of 5% of the total bid. Contract Payment and Performance Bonds will also be required as part of the contract. In case of default by the Contractor, Johnston County Public Schools reserves the right to exercise or use any legal remedies available to it to finish the project. The Contractor shall purchase and maintain the necessary insurance that will cover the contractor from any and all claims by anyone directly or indirectly harmed by the operations of the contract. Johnston County Public Schools has a 10% goal for participation of minority businesses of the total cost of the work. Bidders are required to make a good faith effort to meet this goal.
