Site work for a water / sewer project in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The Smith Creek water and sewer system currently serves the area generally located along Valley Pike, north of the City of Harrisonburg. The water to this system is supplied by and purchased from the City. This project would extend a 16-inch line from Rockingham Park at the Crossroads on Spotswood Trail, east of the City, around the northeast edge of the City and connect to the existing waterline along Valley Pike north. This project would eliminate the need to purchase water from the City of Harrisonburg and not rely on any potential restrictions on use. The project is included in the County's 2025-2029 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of June 17, 2025, project funded for FY2028-FY2029. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
