Demolition, site work, new construction and addition to a library in Portland, Oregon. Working plans call for the addition of a 36,000-square-foot library; for the demolition of a library; for the construction of a 42,000-square-foot library; and for site work for a library.
As of June 8, 2023, a design team and Construction Manager/General Contractor has been selected. The Albina Library and Administration project builds approximately 42,000 sf of space on the existing Isom/Knott Street site. The Isom building and garage are planned to be demolished. Approximately 5,400 sq ft of the existing Knott Street building (historic home of Albina Library and formerly The Title Wave Used Bookstore) will be kept and will undergo significant renovation and structural enhancements with an approximately 36,600 sq ft addition. Square footage may be adjusted as the design phase is completed. Approximately 30,000 sf of space will be designated for the Albina Library and approximately 12,000 sf will be designated for library executive administration space, transitioning off-site library administrative offices from a leased to owned facility.
