The RMOW is inviting qualified teams to provide design-build proposals for a new clear span pedestrian and cycling bridge over 21 Mile Creek located above the Rainbow Waterfall. The existing 17m span, log stringer bridge, has reached its end of life and requires removal and replacement with a new, high character, long lasting and low maintenance recreation bridge. The RMOW utilizes and encourages a diversity of bridge types to form unique user experiences on its recreation trail network. Proponents are encouraged to align their designs with the areas recreational use and natural site characteristics while ensuring the efficiency of construction is well understood and managed within the constraints of the topography and access. The successful proponent may be highly considered for a second recreation bridge replacement in a separate location, budgeted for 2024 design-build, along with other ancillary structures.
