The Maitland Valley Conservation Authority (MVCA) is seeking consulting services to undertake the North Perth Floodplain Mapping Update Project (the Project). The Project will be initiated in 2023 and must be completed by March 2024. The purpose of this Project is to update flood hazard mapping within the municipality of North Perth. Current flood hazard mapping within the Municipality of North Perth is outdated and fails to account for decades of development/land-use change, recent dam removal, and climate change. The Town of Listowel specifically has a history of being vulnerable to major flood events. After several major floods in the 1970s, a flood control structure - the Listowel Conduit - was built to mitigate flooding problems up to the 1-100yr event. This project would create new mapping for the town of Listowel as well as additional rural sections upstream and downstream. The successful Consultant Team must possess sufficient resources to meet the project timeline and skills in the following areas: Hydrologic & Hydraulic modelling Flood Hazard mapping Geographic Information Systems and cartography; Project management; and Community consultation and facilitation. In addition to technical qualifications, the Consultant Team must exhibit such skills as diplomacy, tact, strong communication ability (both written and oral), and a demonstrated history of working successfully as a team. The Consultant Team must have a solid understanding of municipal, conservation authority, and landowner interests, and applicable planning policies. The method of Contractor Selection has not been Determined at this time.
