Renovation of a playground / park / athletic field in Charlevoix, Michigan. Working plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field.

Also included is a crushed stone ADA accessible pathway at the southwest end of the trail that connects to an accessible overlook. This work includes, but is not limited to, the Removal and relocation of site features required to construct new path. PROJECT -This Project consists primarily of the construction of a 6' wide asphalt path along the length of the upland dune side of Lake Michigan Beach Park, parallel to Park Avenue. Also included is a crushed stone ADA accessible pathway at the southwest end of the trail that connects to an accessible overlook. This work includes, but is not limited to, the following: Removal and relocation of site features required to construct new path. Construction of approximately 2000 linear feet of asphalt path, with one ADA ramp and two new crosswalks to connect to existing trail system. Construction of approximately 220 linear feet of crushed stone path. Construction of timber overlook structure with helical piles, surface-mount bench and interpretive sign. Selective understory clearing is also included to improve views from the overlook. Bioswale planting to handle stormwater runoff along one section of trail. Removal of brick pillars and installation of rail at top of existing stairs. Concrete block retaining wall where trail is directly adjacent to existing trees. Lawn restoration at trail shoulders. Alternate ADA pathway connection: the project bid is also to include the approximately 400' length ADA pathway connection from the corner of Park and Grant, down the slope to the beach restrooms. This work, which includes a 6' wide concrete path with ramps and rails as needed to meet accessibility guidelines, will be included as an alternate pending available funding.
