The City of Charlevoix reserves the right to accept or reject any or all proposals, to waive irregularities and to accept the proposal deemed to be in the best interest of the City of Charlevoix. Overall project cost or unit cost will not be the only factor used in determining the lowest qualified bidder. At a minimum bidders shall be licensed and insured and include such documentation in the sealed bid provided to the City. The successful contractor shall have, in place, throughout the duration of this agreement general liability and work comp insurance in the amount of $2,000,000.00. This policy shall also name the City of Charlevoix as additional insured. If at any point this insurance requirement is not met the City reserves the right to make this agreement null and void. It is important that all bidders are aware of the seasonality of Charlevoix and in particular the downtown area. The successful bidder will need to schedule the hydrant abrasive blasting and painting around the numerous events throughout our downtown. In no way will the successful bidder be allowed to negatively impact any festival or event being held within the City. Actual scheduling will be coordinated between the contractor and the Public Works Superintendent prior to commencing work on the hydrants. Timeframe for completion of the painting of approximately 280 hydrants; the successful bidder shall complete the painting of approximately 280 hydrants during the summer and early fall of 2023.
