Renovation of a mixed-use development in Port Moody, British Columbia. Completed plans call for the renovation of a library; municipal facility; and theater / auditorium.

The City of Port Moody (the City) is requesting proposals from a qualified proponent to supply, install and configure a keyless access system that will start with the Civic Centre in the first phase, and is expandable over time to all municipal buildings. Port Moody's Civic Centre, housing City Hall, Library, and Inlet Theatre, is a 3-storey building which currently has a total of 20 doors and 1 parking lot gate equipped with keypad locks for staff access. All the doors have keypad locks that share the same passcode, while the parking lot gate has a different one. For the door keypad locks, there are two different models of keypads used; the older model requires a 4-digit passcode while the new model requires the same code followed by the "#" key. The two different models also have different positioning for the numeric keys, so the users must remember the actual numeric code instead of simply remembering the location pattern of the passcode. In order to keep up the security level, the Facilities department changes the passcode at frequent intervals. However, because there is no central control system, the code must be changed physically at each keypad. All staff are given advance notice for each passcode update. Switching to a keyless entry system will eliminate the menial tasks of the Facilities department physically changing the passcode at each door and gate, and notifying staff of the new code, as well as eliminate the hassle of staff having to remember the new code. Distributing passcodes to staff via email is not a secure method as it is uncontrolled.
