Each bid shall be accompanied by a bid deposit in the form of a bid bond, certified check, or a treasurer's or cashier's check issued by a responsible bank or trust company, payable to the Town of Wellesley. Bid deposit shall be not less than 5% (five percent) of the bid amount. This Contract, in accordance with Chapter 303 Acts of 2008, contains a price adjustment for Liquid Asphalt, Portland Cement, Diesel Fuel and Gasoline. The base price for Liquid Asphalt, Portland Cement and Diesel Fuel and Gasoline on this project will be the MassDOT Highway Division Period Prices. These shall be specified in the bid package. MassDOT prequalification of contractors with the class of work as, Highway Construction, for the project with an estimated value of $4,437,102.70 will be required. The successful bidder will commence the work required by the contract documents on or after a date specified in written notice to proceed and will fully complete each phase of the project within 365 consecutive calendar days, unless the period for completion is extended otherwise by contract documents. The Board of Public Works reserves the right to accept any bid item or combination of bid items or to waive any informalities or minor defects, or to reject any or all proposals as in its sole judgment, the best interest of the Town of Wellesley would be served by so doing.
