The City of Bettendorf is seeking bids to abate asbestos material(s) from three residential properties within the City. Abatement must be performed by a properly-licensed Contractor The properties are single-family homes located within the Duck Creek Floodplain and targeted for demolition under a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) program. Background: The City of Bettendorf, Iowa is seeking bids to abate asbestos material(s) from three residential properties within the City. Abatement must be performed by a properlylicensed Contractor. The properties are single-family homes located within the Duck Creek Floodplain and targeted for demolition under a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) program. Scope of Work: The selected Service Provider must be able to complete abatement on an individual home within ten (10) days of official Notice to Proceed from the City unless additional time is agreed to in writing. For each day following the ten (10) day deadline, an additional five hundred dollars ($500) will be deducted from the bid price payment as liquidated damages to the City of Bettendorf. A deadline extension will only be issued by mutual agreement of both the Contractor and the City. All abatement activities must comply with federal, state, and local laws. This project involves properties that are being purchased as part of a Federal grant; therefore, regulations under 2 CFR Part 200 Appendix II must be adhered to (see attached regulation). The properties will be demolished following the abatement; therefore, the Contractor may proceed knowing that the structures will not be reoccupied following the abatement. Salvage rights WILL NOT be provided in conjunction with the bid process. The Contractor MAY NOT salvage any materials from the involved properties. The Contactor must be able to abate a wide range of asbestos contamination scenarios commonly found in residential structures.
