The project generally consists of improvements to and expansion of the existing campground in Pioneer Ridge County Park. The project includes the removal of 6 of the existing 9 granular sites including termination and removal of their electrical and water services. The 3 existing sites that will remain will receive new water, electrical, and sanitary sewer connections. The proposed modern RV campground will result in 20 campsites total; 3 upgraded sites, 11 new back-in sites and 6 pull-through sites. Each site will offer compacted granular surfacing for campsites and patio space along with 50-amp electrical service, water connection, and sanitary sewer connection. Water and electrical services will connect to existing services in the park. The sanitary system will consist of a gravity collection system feeding to a series of proposed septic tanks which will be pumped to an existing sewage lagoon for treatment. The existing campground road will remain and shall only require repairs where proposed utilities cross. Earthwork efforts will include shaping each proposed campsite, creating swales for the overland flow of stormwater, and creating a space for a future playground. A premanufactured, precast concrete shower facility with adjacent parking and electrical provisions to nearby primitive camping area and shelter is part of the project.. Each bidder shall accompany its bid with bid security, as defined in Iowa Code Section 26.8, as security that the successful bidder will enter into a contract for the work bid upon. The bidder's security shall be in an amount equal to 5 percent of the total amount of the bid. The bid shall contain no condition except as provided in the specifications. Work on the improvement shall commence upon approval of the contract by the Conservation Board and as stated in the Notice to Proceed. All work under the Contract must be substantially complete on or before October 31, 2024. Liquidated damages as set forth in Section 00500 - Contract, in the amount of $200 per day. Maintenance and Warranty bond shall be held in effect to guarantee the maintenance of the improvement caused by failures in materials and construction for a period of 2-year from and after final acceptance of the work.
