This is a Design Build project that will provide necessary affordable housing for CSUSM students and increase first year residency (550 beds). It will also address the need for a dining commons to service the campus. The housing building have varying floor heights with no more than 8 stories. This project is a public works project. The project will provide an approximately 137,000 total GSF (127,000 for housing and 10,000 for dining) to be placed in the current the University Village Apartment (UVA parking lot). The following Work Categories are available to bid:
WC 11 Metal Panels and Rainscreen;
WC 17 Glass and Glazing;
WC 18 Framing, Drywall & Plaster;
WC 34 Elevators;
WC 35 Fire Protection;
WC 36 Plumbing;
WC 37 HVAC/Building Controls;
WC 38 Electrical/Low Voltage/Fire Alarm. A. BIDDERS with bids that exceed $100,000 must post a bid bond or other security in the amount of 15% of the amount of the bid with bid.
B. Each BIDDER, simultaneously with the execution of the Subcontract Agreement, shall be required to furnish a Labor and Material, Payment and Performance Bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the Contract sum and a Faithful Performance Bond in an amount equal to 100 percent of the Contract Sum. Said Bonds shall be from an admitted California Surety satisfactory to McCarthy, with A. M. Best rating of A- or better, and listed in the Federal Register, issued by the Department of Treasury and licensed in California, Or Subcontractor shall be preapproved to join McCarthys Contractor Default Insurance Program. Said Bonds shall remain in full force and effect through the guarantee
period.
C. The BIDDER shall be a licensed contractor pursuant to the Business and Professionals Code and be licensed in the applicable classifications for the trades for which the contractor is submitting a bid and be registered with CA- DIR.
D. Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise & Small Business Enterprises are encouraged to participate. Bid preference will be give to Subcontractors that pledge contract value percentage towards project DVBE & SBE requirements.
E. No Bid may be withdrawn until One Hundred Twenty (120) days after the Bid Opening Date.
F. McCarthy reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive any irregularities or informalities in any bid or in the bidding.
G. McCarthy reserves the right to reject a Bidder whose EMR exceeds 1.20 in either the most recent year or the average of the three years.
