Site work for a water / sewer project in Duluth, Minnesota. Conceptual plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
Utilization of landfill gas as primary fuel source for heating the recycling, maintenance, and household hazardous waste buildings at the Regional Landfill, 5341 Regional Landfill Road, Virginia, MN. Engineering estimate was higher than preliminary estimate based on original design. A successful pilot project capturing landfill gas from the Regional Landfill to fuel two furnaces at the Department's recycling facility was monitored throughout the 2018-2019 heating season and achieved desired results. The Department will install two additional landfill gas furnaces in 2024, allowing the facility to convert to methane as the primary fuel source and propane as backup. Conversion of maintenance building and HHW Facility to methane systems in 2025 and 2026. Project is included Saint Louis County Fiscal Year 2025-2029. As of April 24, 2025, design is taking place in 2025 with construction in 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
