Provide all materials, equipment, and labor necessary, including excavation with shoring in accordance with Des Moines Water Works (DMWW) Rules and Regulations and OSHA requirements, installation, backfill, compaction, dewatering, testing, surface restoration, clean up, and miscellaneous associated work, to complete installation of approximately 2240 feet of 12-inch polyvinyl chloride water main, 1320 feet of 8-inch polyvinyl chloride water main, 10 feet of 6-inch polyvinyl chloride water main, connect to existing mains, install appurtenances and water service transfers, disconnect mains to be abandoned, and remove old surface facilities. The Board reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive informalities in any bid. The Board also reserves the right to accept the bid that it determines to be in the best interest of the Board in accordance with Chapter 26 and Subchapters II and III of Chapter 73A, Code of Iowa Certificates of insurance shall be written by companies which hold an AM Best A-VII rating or higher and are licensed to do business in the state of Iowa. The selected companies must be satisfactory to the Owner. The amount of the bid security shall be ten percent (10%) of the bid submitted by the bidder. The bid security shall be made payable to the Board. The bid security must not contain any conditions either in the body or as an endorsement thereon. The bid security shall be forfeited to the Board as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails or refuses to enter into a Contract within ten (10) days after the award of Contract and post bond satisfactory to the Board. The Contractor's Bond shall be in an amount equal to one hundred percent (100%) of the Contract price, be issued by a responsible surety approved by the Board, guarantee the faithful performance of the Contract Location- 43RD ST FROM GREENWOOD TO DEAD END SW 12TH ST FROM EDGEMONT ST TO BELL AVE SW 9TH ST FROM BURNHAM AVE TO LUSTER LN The Work under this Contract has the following completion dates: 1. 12th Street - a. City of Des Moines requires work be completed during summer due to proximity to Lincoln High School. b. Start: June 7, 2023. c. Substantial completion: August 1, 2023. d. Final completion: August 31, 2023. e. It is required that this street be completed first and in its entirety. 2. 43rd Street - a. Start: August 1, 2023. b. Substantial completion: October 27, 2023. c. Final completion: November 10, 2023. 3. SW 9th Street - a. Start: April 15, 2024, or as weather allows. b. Substantial completion: September 16, 2024. c. Final completion: September 30, 2024. Replacement of existing water mains that have reached the end of their useful life on the following streets: 1. 43rd Street and SW 9 th Street. B. Install new public main to replace existing private water main. 1. SW 12th Street.
