The Heart of Fairfield Plan (Plan) approved by Council on May 2, 2017, identified an extensive list of potential infastructure improvement projects in downtown Fairfield. These capital projects will help transform downtown Fairfield by providing better access to transit, supporting zoning changes associated with the Plan, and making it safer and more enjoyable to walk and bike downtown. One of the primary elements of the Plan is the transformation of West Texas Street between Beck and Pennsylvania from a high-speed 5-lane arterial to a 2-lane roadway with dedicated bike lanes, on-street parking, and a landscaped center median. Additional work is necessary to complete the infastructure funding plan and fee study. This effort will look at options to fund the public infastructure elements of the Plan. This project is included in the City of Fairfield's 2021-2026 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of March 20, 2023, information regarding a design team or a general contractor is not available.
