The scope of work for CR 634 over Charlie Creek is to repair a timber pile located at intermediate bent 7. In addition to the timber pile repair, minor channel excavation, damaged timber cross frame repair and existing pile testing is included in the scope of work. Vegetation removal consists of soil and plant removal needed to excavate down to required depths for pile collar and cross frame installation. This task does not include full channel clearing. Timber pile repair consists of the removal of all rotted wood leaving the pile's core. Grout shall surround the core to match the existing diameter of the 12" butt pile (approximate), and the steel collar shall fit to the grout and extend 2'-0" beyond the repair limits into the existing pile. Per FDOT requirements a stainless-steel collar is required. Grouting, collar material and installation, and timber removal shall follow applicable FDOT standards as detailed in the plans. Cross-brace repairs are located at bents 5, 7, 10, and 11 and are rotting at their connections. Cross-braces shall be replaced in kind using treated timber per FDOT standards. All hardware shall meet FDOT requirements. Existing pile testing shall take place at piles 12-2 and 12-3. Field testing is required to determine if section loss exceeds 20-30%.
