Site work and paving for a road / highway in Lexington, South Carolina. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; and for paving for a road / highway.
The County of Lexington is seeking sealed proposals for Dirt Road Maintenance in Southeast Lexington County for our PUBLIC WORKS department. The Lexington County Department of Public Works is seeking competitive bids from South Carolina Department of Transportation (SCDOT) approved contractors for the purpose of stabilizing and maintaining approximately one hundred twenty seven (127) miles of County dirt roads. This work generally consists of grading existing roadway surfaces to establish a smooth riding surface. The work may also include the placement of aggregate materials to enhance the stabilization of the roadway surface. Grading of Existing Road Surface: Each road is to be graded at least once every six (6) weeks to establish a smooth riding surface. Special care is to be given to drainage, and non-routine maintenance will be required if the condition of the road worsens for any reason, including traffic or weather. Please note: No sediment or debris shall be left in a ditch-line, in front of pipe inlets or outlets, or in a manner that may impede drainage. No sediment or debris shall be left in a driveway or intersection in a manner that may impede clear access by any single-occupancy vehicle. Aggregate Stabilized Road Surface: An approved aggregate riding surface may be installed in areas of each road. Construction shall be consistent with Section 300 of the SCDOT Standard Specifications for Highway Construction 2007. This work will generally consist of the placement of maintenance stone (CR14) to stabilize the riding surface or repair eroded roadway sections. Removal and Disposal of Trash & Debris: Remove all trash and debris discovered in the roadway, and dispose of it in a licensed landfill. Roadway Maintenance: The list provided in this document provides the name and location of all roads that require maintenance work on this contract. The list contains information clarifying the requested services for each road. Approximately 127 miles of roads are to be maintained under this contract. Road widths vary between 12 feet and 30 feet wide, with most roads being approximately 18-20 feet wide.
