1. Use aggregate in the base course consisting of coarse aggregate of crushed, graded recycled Portland cement concrete mixed together with sand, sand-gravel, soil or other approved materials having similar characteristics and combined as necessary to give a mixture conforming to the requirements given below. 2. Use aggregate that is free from lumps or balls of clay or other objectionable matter and does not contain metals, wood, brick, plastics or other unacceptable debris. 3. When Recycled Portland Cement Concrete Base Course selected, have the source inspected, sampled and tested and approved by the MRE and RCE before any material is used in the work.
