This project's purpose is to repair/replace 1,088 linear feet of damaged guardrail along S Big Lake Road. This project will involve, but is not limited to, removing fugitive material, removing existing guardrail, installing guardrail, and paving guardrail terminal widening. All construction shall be completed in accordance with the Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (DOT&PF) Standard Specifications for Highway Construction (SSHC) 2017 Edition. Project specific special provisions are provided in the following sections. The requirements contained in these specifications and special provisions are hereby made a part of this solicitation and resultant contract. o This project is located in Big Lake. The project may be accessed from W Susitna Pkwy. See project location and vicinity maps. o Contractor is to provide resources to complete this project without any adjustments in the original bid amount or contract time. o Contractor shall coordinate the road improvements with all utility companies. Request locates from the utilities having facilities in the area. Use the Alaska Digline, Inc. Locate Call Center. See Section 105-1.06 for digline number and a list of utility companies in the area. No relocations are anticipated. o A Vac Truck Item was included to verify utilities locations where they enter the work zone. o Work Zone speed limit: Limit speed of vehicles associated with construction to 20 miles per hour within project limits. o Time is of the essence. Work shall be completed in one continuous timeframe after utility relocations are completed. Substantial completion shall be achieved by September 30, 2023. Final completion shall be achieved by December 15, 2023. o Estimated project magnitude is less than $190,000.
