Renovation of a mixed-use development in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

The Chester County School Districts Joint Purchasing (CCSDJP) Board is soliciting sealed bids for: Concrete New and Replacement The Joint Purchasing Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids, either by item or in total, and will make award in the best interest of the CCSDJP Board. . Work will be done as required starting May 1, 2023 through June 31, 2023. Scope of Work: 1. The RFP is for new and replacement of concrete on an as needed basis. The Chester County School Districts Joint Purchasing Consortium and county school districts will not guarantee the dollar value for any service during this contract term. Quantities shown are estimates for bidding purposes. 2. The successful bidder(s) will be required to provide all necessary labor, materials, removal, equipment, supervision and transportation to perform installations, replacements according to specifications. 3. Cement concrete walkways and pedestrian areas shall be constructed in accordance with PennDot Publication 408, Section 676 - Cement Concrete Sidewalks. Curbs shall be constructed in accordance with PennDot Publication 408, Section 630 - Plain Cement Concrete Curbs. Stairs shall be constructed in accordance with the International Building Code (IBC). 4. Concrete work shall be performed by a qualified and experienced contractor or subcontractor accepted to school district. 5. Contractor will be responsible for inspection, installation conditions and field measurements at required locations. 6. Where designated by the Building and Grounds Manager, all existing concrete that is to be replaced shall be removed. All debris, including reinforcing wire and broken concrete shall be removed from the school by the contractor. Sidewalk blocks must be removed at expansion or scored joints. Scored joints must be carefully sawed so that new cast in place concrete establishes a smooth transition to existing sidewalk and curbs. All removed materials shall become the property of the contractor. Removed and crushed concrete is not permitted to be used as the stone base. 7. The following materials shall be used in the construction, reconstruction and repair of curb, sidewalk and stairs improvements. A. CRUSHED STONE BASE - Base material beneath all concrete and driveway entrances and as fill on macadam side of curbs shall be No. 2B crushed aggregated as defined by PennDot Publication 408. A minimum of 4" of 3/4 inch crushed compacted stone is to be used as a sub-base. B. STRUCTURAL CONCRETE - All concrete used for the construction of curbs, sidewalks, stairs and driveway entrances shall be Class A Cement Concrete according to Section 704 of PennDot Publications 408, shall have an ultimate 28 day compressive strength of 4000 pounds per square inch with air-entrained. C. REINFORCEMENT - Reinforcing wire shall be a minimum of #10 gauge - 6" x 6" for all sidewalk replacement. Install welded wire fabric in as long of length as practicable, lapping at least one mesh. Conforming to the requirements of the American Concrete Institute. Reinforcement shall be placed to provide a minimum of two inches of cover from all concrete surfaces. D. EXPANSION JOINT MATERIAL - Shall be 1/2 inch thick pre-molded expansion strips, extended throughout the depth of the concrete. E. PAVING AND PAVING JOINT SEALING - Damaged bituminous paving along street side of curb to be neatly cut and replaced with a minimum of 2 1/2 inches thick ID-2 bituminous material in accordance with Sections 305 of PennDot Publication 408. Joint where paving meets curb to be sealed with hot PennDot Class AC-20 asphalt cement conforming to PennDot Bulletin 25.
