Site work and paving for a mixed-use development in Agawam, Massachusetts. Completed plans call for site work for a road / highway; for paving for a road / highway; sidewalk / parking lot; sidewalk / parking lot; and water / sewer project.
Access road/parking lots/walking trails, boat launch improvements, rehab low-hazard dam, install stormwater treatment systems, construct stream crossings, wetland/riverfront replication & restoration. Required for DCAMM contracts over $150,000, Highway Division contracts over $50,000. A. The Project includes installation of an access road, parking lots, walking trails, and improvements to existing boat launch to improve the site for passive public recreational use. The Project also includes the rehabilitation of a low-hazard dam, installation of stormwater treatment systems, construction of stream crossings, and wetland/riverfront replication and restoration. B. The "Nine Lot Dam Area" or "Dam Area" as referenced in the Contract Documents is defined as the area located from Stations 38+50 and 41+50 as shown on the Tuckahoe Farm Master Plan Improvements Drawings. The Work includes labor, material and equipment, services required for construction, testing, and commissioning of the Project in accordance with the Contract Documents and as more specifically described in the Specifications and Drawings and includes, but is not limited to, the following principal features. 1. Construction of a 3,150 linear foot site access road (STA. 10+00 to STA. 42+00), including installation of a precast box culvert, wing walls, and gravity retaining walls at the location of a stream crossing just west of Pine Street. 2. Construction of 2 parking lots along the access road, totaling 25 parking spaces. 3. Construction of 3,900 linear feet of multi-use pathway. 4. Improving the existing boat launch by installing a new asphalt pavement section and riprap. 5. Construction of nature-based stormwater conveyance and treatment systems including swales, culvert pipes, a bioretention pond, 2 rain gardens, and 2 infiltration basins. 6. Stream restoration, wetland restoration, wetland replication, riverfront area mitigation, and deciduous tree planting. 7. Work within the "Dam Area," including rehabilitation of a low hazard dam as shown in the Nine Lot Dam Rehabilitation Drawings. Work includes but is not limited to: a. Initial lowering of the impoundment, and maintaining the lowered state, as well as other temporary water control measures, both surface and groundwater. b. Install cofferdams. c. Clear and strip vegetation from dam embankments and dam crest. d. Demolish and remove existing concrete headwall. e. Excavate to remove existing low-level outlet conduit and primary outlet conduit, and for installation of new pre-cast concrete box culvert and new concrete spillway structure. Remove organic soils from beneath proposed outlet structure and culvert. Replaced with compacted Granular Fill. f. Installation of new concrete drop inlet spillway and pre-cast box culvert. g. Installation of new steel walkway above the new spillway structure. h. Backfilling of excavation as required for installation of new structures. i. Regrade embankments to slopes indicated on the construction drawings. j. Installation of geotextile fabric along the upstream slope to be overlain by placed crushed stone and rip rap for slope protection. k. Install filtered toe drain at bottom of downstream slope. l. Loam and seed the downstream embankment to achieve a natural grass covering. m. Grade and the top of the dam. Install curbing and pave new asphalt access road and sidewalk. n. Installation of permanent safety railings on the shoulders of the roadway. 8.
