This project consists of, but is not limited to: The Wrightsville Dam located in Montpelier VT, is owned and operated by the State of Vermont, Department of Environmental Conservation. The dam was originally constructed back in the 1930s to serve the purposes of flood control, and recreation. The US Army Corps of Engineers are the original dam designer. Today the dam is still actively used for flood control, recreation, and power generation. The dam includes an approximately 160 feet wide by 900 feet long auxiliary spillway discharge channel located at the eastern abutment. The auxiliary spillway is controlled by a concrete ogee crested weir which spans across the channel. The eastern side of the channel is bordered by a vertical rock cut approximately 46 feet tall, and the western side of the auxiliary spillway channel is bordered by a reinforced concrete training wall approximately 36 feet tall. The VT DEC Dam Safety Program has designed a maintenance project to clean up and maintain the auxiliary spillway, along with some of its appurtenant features. Main Project Elements 1.) Install Signage Along Auxiliary Spillway & Rock Cut Access Road 5.)
