La Plata County is soliciting bids from a general contractor for the construction of concrete foundations and walls for a new sand shed at the County's Crader Pit (sand and gravel). The design is an open-ended 112 ft. long arched cover supported by two parallel concrete walls. The scope includes: excavation and preparation for foundations; construction of foundations and walls; backfill and compaction; and, finish-grading the pad. The cover for the shed will be furnished by the County and installation will be by others. The pit is located at 27061 US Highway 160, southeast of Durango, Colorado (81301). Access is via a narrow winding road, which is sometimes used for hauling road materials. Coordination of daily access with the County Road & Bridge Department will be required. Access is a rightin, right-out entrance and exit. The scope of work is detailed in plans provided with this solicitation. Potential bidders are directed to the excavation and backfill notes on the civil plans, which contain specific instructions for scarification and placement of native soils and placement of structural fill. The complete scope includes: excavation, base of fills preparation, compaction, backfill and grading of soils; supplying, placing and compacting all structural fills; and forming, reinforcing, and placing all concrete materials to the specifications, dimensions, and tolerances required. All labor, equipment, materials, consumable supplies and accessories, and water required to complete the project scope in a professional workmanlike manner are considered to be included in the lump sum price provided by the bidder.
