**As of May 16, 2023, the project was awarded to New Horizons Telecom, Inc. total bid of $699,199.49. The anticipated start date is June 2023. (KPU) requests competitive sealed proposals for Fiber Optic Cable Placement consisting of: o Placing up to 75,000 feet of aerial fiber optic cable and 500 feet of underground fiber optic cable within the serving area of Ketchikan Public Utilities; o Splicing of new 864-port fiber cross-connect cabinet; o Placing up to 41 MST aerial terminals, fiber tail lengths included in above cable lengths; o Completion of up to 2,822 fiber fusion splices and installation of up to 18 splice enclosures; o Swing all existing fiber service drops to new terminals with KPU coordination; o Removing existing tethered fiber optic distribution cable and MST terminals.
