The project was awarded to BLACK GOLD TRANSPORT for $504,091.65. The Board reserves the right to reject any and all bids or to waive irregularities therein, and to accept any bids which, in the opinion of the Board, may be most advantageous and to the best interest of the County. This contract will be considered for award on Tuesday, April 25, 2023. Locations: Ivanrest Avenue: 76th Street to 60th Street 76th Street: Kenowa Avenue to Wilson Avenue Homerich Avenue: 92nd Street to 84th Street (Crush & Shape) Scope- Type of Construction: Crush & Shape 3.5" Skip Pave Completion Date: July 15, 2023 (Skip Pave) October 1, 2023 (Crush & Shape) SKIP PAVING The contract will consist of The Kent County Road Commission (KCRC)Maintenance Department doing any tree work, ditching, or cross-tiles prior to paving and all other prep work: crack sealing, patching, etc. before and/or after paving. The contractor will need to sweep surface prior to tacking. The contractor will most commonly wedge from 0" to 1" at the beginning and ending of all paving. Some butt joints may be needed (determined by engineer or representative.) After road is complete, the KCRC will be placing a chip seal over the entire roadway and doing restoration work after Chipping and fogging. CRUSH & SHAPE (Homerich Avenue) The detour shall be set up before the project is to begin. Message boards will be set by KCRC prior to contractors desired start date. The contractor shall crush and shape the existing HMA. The grade should be set at 3%. (See special provision for HMA Base Crushing and Shaping, Modified). After the crushed material is shaped and compacted, the contractor shall pave a 2" base course of HMA 3EML, followed by paving 1.5" top course of HMA 5EML. The KCRC will require approximately 2 weeks for "Restoration" between Base Course and Top Course. The KCRC will then complete shouldering and restoration.
