Renovation of a detention facility in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.
Replace the roof of the Kenosha County Detention Center. The existing roof is original to the building and past its useful life, in need of constant patching and repair. The roof will be replaced after the final phase of the new HVAC equipment project is installed in 2025. This project was recommended as part of the overall roof replacement survey conducted several years ago by third-party consultants. In 2024, $100,000 was approved to complete the engineering which will take place in 2025, followed by construction in 2026. If the roof is not replaced, repairs will continue to be made to prevent potential building damage. As of February 17, 2025, this project is in the Kenosha County's FY 2025 Capital Budget. Further information regarding a design firm or timeline for construction has not yet been established. Funding is allotted for FY 2026. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change.
