Renovation of a detention facility in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.
The hot water system at the Kenosha County Detention Center is an intricate and complicated series of pipes, valves, tanks, pumps and motors that connects the hot water source (boiler) to the ultimate equipment (kitchen, laundry, showers, etc.). The source, piping and ultimate equipment are functioning properly but the "infrastructure" of valves, tanks, motors and pumps will have reached the end of their useful life and will need replacement in 2028. This is a 24/7/365 facility that cannot be shut down if hot water is not available. If not replaced, the existing system will be patched and repaired as needed depending upon the availability of parts and components. As of February 17, 2025, this project is in the Kenosha County's FY 2025 Capital Budget. Further information regarding a design firm or timeline for construction has not yet been established. Funding is allotted for FY 2028. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly. Information listed in the CIP often evolves based on funding availability and the project details, including timeline and value, are subject to change. The content management team will continue to pursue additional details as they become available.
