As of October 29, 2024, this project is in design. An architect has been selected; however, a general contractor or selection method is not disclosed. A timeline for construction has yet to be announced. Closed solicitation has been included below for reference. ................. Scope of Services Architectural and/or engineering firms interested in this project shall prepare and submit proposals to complete the work required for a complete update of the MLK Library. The scope of work shall include the following: Complete design of the remodel of the MLK library as described above, including the prime consultant and all required sub-consultants. All professional design disciplines, including but not limited to architectural, structural, mechanical, electrical (including fire alarm), plumbing, and fire sprinkler shall be prepared and signed by professionals licensed in the State of California. This will be a Design Assist contract. Once a contractor is selected as the Design Assist (DA) contractor (Separate from this RFP), coordination and collaboration with the DA contractor is crucial to a successful project. The design team shall work with the DA contractor reviewing value engineering ideas, constructability, phasing of work, etc. This will be a collaborative approach between the City, the Library Authority, the Design Team, and the Design assist contractor. The final design shall include the outcomes of the community meetings, comments from the Library Authority, The City, and the DA Contractor.
