Renovation of a municipal facility in Lawton, Oklahoma. Design plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

The City of Lawton is advancing plans to build a new Animal Welfare Adoption Center. Renovations will improve the current animal spaces, administrative offices, and storage and utility areas. The new adoption center will offer a welcoming environment for the public, including an intake facility to ensure incoming animals are properly vaccinated and healthy. Animals ready for adoption will enjoy ample sunlight in easy-to-clean kennels, and a play yard will provide space for exercise and meeting new families. The estimated cost for the renovations and new construction is approximately $5.5 million, contingent on the approval of PROPEL2040, which will be voted on by Lawton citizens on August 27, 2024. As of July 30, 2024, project has an architect on board. The city council has approved their conceptual design plans and are working on final construction plans. Construction timeline is unknown at this time. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
