Email: jeg5y@virginia.edu The University and its Departments of Facilities Management and Environmental Health & Safety seek a qualified firm to facilitate the development and implementation of a
campus Lab Ventilation Management Plan (or LVMP). The LVMP will outline a detailed management protocol for the design, use, monitoring, and maintenance of campus lab ventilation systems and will be based on the ANSI Z9.5 Standard for Laboratory Ventilation as well as the ANSI Z10 Standard for Occupational Health Management Systems. The qualified firm will demonstrate experience with laboratory ventilation systems, particularly industrial hygiene in academic Research settings, stakeholder engagement, and more. The successful firm will prioritize safe and sustainable operation of lab ventilation systems. The successful firm will:
o Plan, develop, facilitate, and help to implement a campus LVMP for the University of Virginia, which will include the following tasks and deliverables, but is not limited to: Primary authorship of the LVMP and lead facilitation of stakeholder meetings and LVMP workshop.
o Identifying the scope of the LVMP (External and internal requirements, stakeholder scopes, matrices for roles and responsibilities, training, operations, recordkeeping, recording, and monitoring, and other necessary components of the LVMP).
o Applying best-in-class safety standards and strategies.
o Identifying design schemes, outlining protocols for how to select and apply exposure controls systems (ex. fast-acting venturi valves vs. Variable Air Volume controls).
o Facilitating conversations with stakeholders to differentiate between "needs" vs. "wants" of the LVMP.
o Steering a minimum of one day-long, in-person workshop facilitating the creation of the LVMP in the summer of 2023.
o Stakeholder engagement before, during, and after workshop
o Referencing and incorporating all applicable standards, codes, and addenda throughout the LVMP (ex. ANSI Z9.5, Z10, and more), especially those with "force of law" and required compliance
o Assess priorities for optimizing ventilation
o Evaluating current HVAC operating costs as well as long-term energy use analysis
o Final deliverable including LVMP document for UVa's School of Medicine, School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, and the College of Arts and Sciences. The University will provide: o Identification and access to key stakeholders
o Administrative support from Sustainability staff such as help connecting with campus stakeholders, support facilitating meetings and workshop, etc.
o Providing venue and food for in-person workshop
