Renovation of an educational facility in Smithfield, Rhode Island. Completed plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.

Reference Number 0000318063 The proposed upgrade consists of replacing eleven (10) packaged rooftop units and two air cooled condensers and duct coils. The roof top units are serving classrooms and office spaces. The two air cooled condensers are serving the auditorium. The existing HVAC equipment were installed in 2002 and are 20 years old. The life expectancy of the equipment is 15-20 years. All the equipment has reached their life expectancy. The new roof top units will be replaced with same size and type of units. The unit size ranges from 3-tons to 15-tons. Sound attenuation will be provided by insulated the interior of the roof top unit curb and installation of new vibration isolation curb adapters. The gas heat on the roof top unit will not be utilized. The existing heating hot water duct coils will be utilized for the source of heat. New controllers and thermostat shall be installed. Roof top unit(s) with hot gas reheat for a dehumidification cycle. The new units shall be capable of removing moisture in the air during normal humid days down to 60% relative humidity. Existing roof mounted condensing unit, refrigerant piping, and duct coil shall be removed and disposed off. The existing controller and thermostat shall be replaced with new. New condenser, piping and duct coil shall be 30 tons each typical to Trane RAUC. Smithfield Public Schools has pre-purchased the specified units and is expecting delivery of equipment in 4 separate shipments. It will be the responsibility of the Contractor to receive and securely store equipment until it is prepared to install units. The successful bidder under this contract will assume full responsibility and costs involved in the hiring of any and all subcontractors necessary to the full completion of the work involved. A certified check or Bid Bond, payable to the Owner in the amount of Five Percent (5%) of the contract bid amount, MUST be furnished by each General Contractor in accordance with the provisions included in the Instructions to Bidders. A Certificate of Insurance showing $1 million General Liability and $1 million Any Auto, with the Town being named as an additional insured All questions should be submitted to the Purchasing Agent by email to: csantos@smithfieldri.com no later than May 8, 2023, 4:00pm. Work of this Contract is of the removal and replacement of ten (10) packaged rooftop units and two (2) rooftop air cooled condensers and interior duct coils at the Smithfield High School. The ten rooftop units serve classrooms and office space. The two air cooled condensers and interior duct coils serve the auditorium. 1. Remove all existing rooftop units and Provide New Rooftop Units in the original locations as indicated in the Construction Documents (Drawings and Specifications). The new roof top units will be replaced with the same size and type of units. The unit size ranges from 3-tons to 15-tons. Sound attenuation will be provided by field insulating the interior space of the existing rooftop unit curb assemblies that will remain at all rooftop unit replacement locations and new vibration isolation curb adapters shall be provided at all existing rooftop unit curb locations. The gas heat on the roof top unit will not be utilized. The existing heating hot water duct coils will be utilized for the source of heat. New controllers and thermostat shall be installed. Roof top unit(s) with hot gas reheat for a dehumidification cycle. 2. Both existing roof mounted condensing unit, refrigerant piping, and duct coil shall be removed and replaced. New vibration isolators shall be installed at each unit. Provide and install new condenser, refrigerant piping, and ductwork. The existing controller and thermostat shall be replaced with new. New condenser, piping and duct coil shall be 30 tons each typical to Trane RAUC. 3. All new HVAC rooftop units and condensing unit assemblies as described above have been pre-purchased by the Owner and the Contractor shall be responsible for the following activities as part of their bid: a. The Contractor shall receive, unload, and store all Owner pre-purchased HVAC equipment items shipped out by the Owner's equipment manufacturer (Trane) and store all HVAC equipment items within a secure off-site weather tight storage facility at a location that is convenient to the Contractor. The Contractor shall review and receive approval from the Owner (Smithfield Public Schools Department) on the proposed storage facility they plan to utilize. b. The Contractor shall deliver all pre-purchased HVAC equipment items stored at the Contractor's off-site Owner approved storage facility to the Smithfield High School site when the Contractor is ready to install the pre-purchased HVAC equipment on the roof of the Smithfield High School. B. The Contractor shall provide all material, labor, tools, plant, supplies, equipment, transportation, superintendence, temporary construction of every nature and all other services and facilities necessary to complete the construction for the Owner, including all incidental work as required or described in the contract documents. C. The Contractor shall include in their bid all costs associated with the storage of all equipment in a secure off-site facility and the delivery of the units to the site when the project is ready to receive the equipment to be installed in or on top of the roof of the existing building
