Renovation of an educational facility in Columbia, Missouri. Working plans call for the renovation of a educational facility.
As of December 1, 2025, this project is currently seeking funding from the state. An architect and general contractor have been selected. The project is expected to be issued for bid in Winter 2026 Construction could begin in late spring 2027 at the earliest. **Interested Sub-Contractors should reach out to Caleb Johnson with Whiting-Turner regarding bidding opportunities and documents.** GENERAL PROJECT INFORMATION Project Vision and Goals The new Engineering and Applied Sciences (EAS) Building is envisioned as a state-of-the-art interdisciplinary research laboratory building to support energy research innovation for the College of Engineering and College of Arts and Science. A primary goal for the new facility is to attract and retain top talent and resilient government funding including securing designation as a US DOE Regional Center of Excellence. Building Program The building is anticipated to house approximately 50 PI led research teams working in the areas of materials science/physics/chemistry/data science and policy. The preliminary program includes flexible research wet and dry laboratories and laboratory support space, office space for faculty, staff, and graduate students, shared research instrumentation space, potential clean room, collaborative research space, meeting and conference rooms, cafe, informal seating areas, building operations and research administration offices, and general building support.
