Site work for a transportation facility in Vulcan, Alberta. Completed plans call for site work for a transportation facility.

Vulcan County is a rural municipality located in Southern Alberta; in which, Vulcan County and the Town of Vulcan co-own the Vulcan Town & County Airport. The Vulcan Flying Club operates within the Vulcan Town & County Airport and is working with Vulcan County for the Runway Sealing Project. The Town of Vulcan is also in support of the project. The airport’s runway, taxi way & apron is needing to be re-sealed so that the cracks can be seals and to avoid these cracks enlarging and becoming potholes; whereas, the benefits of having reliable runways are enormous for the operations of the airport. Vulcan County expects that the Proponent will provide the following mandatory services. Should the proponent choose to offer further services that would enhance the viability of a project Vulcan County will be willing to consider each service on its own merit. It is expected that the Proponent will supply all equipment and supplies necessary to carry out the following duties: Minimum Requirements: Sealer – Asphalt Based Estimated area of 281,350 square feet, including runway, taxi way & apron Sweep and clean off asphalt on airport before application Requires Commercial-Grade Emulsion Pavement Sealer, such as Seal Master, GemSeal, Neyra, or equivalent Two (2) coats minimum to be applied. Striping/Lines, including Runway Number, single white center line, yellow taxi line, and yellow stop line as per Transport Canada’s specifications for Airport Visual Flight Rules (VFR). Highway grade line paint or equivalent. Purchaser will provide design and information on appropriate striping. Crack-fill Cleaning of debris and grass from most of the 1/4” to 1” width transverse and lateral pavement cracks – sealing most (but may not be all), based on site review and related approvals. High-quality hot pour pavement crack and joint sealant that meets American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) Specification 6690 (supersedes ASTM 3405) or equivalent standards.
