Design and construction of nearly 5 miles of trails running along Scholar Way and Harrison Avenue, utilizing excess right-of-way rather than impacting vehicle circulation/travel lanes. The project will provide dedicated space for people to bike and walk from northern City limit to the Santa Ana River trail connecting to schools, parks, retail and neighborhoods. The City has contracted with Mark Thomas to assist with community outreach and prepare the bid documents. The contractor for construction will be selected by a bidding procedure. Measure A will be used for the required local match. The original scope of work included installing Class IV, however conducting community outreach demonstrated that Class I multiuse trail without reducing the existing number of travel lanes is more favorable due to added safety to people who walk and bike. City is discussing with Caltrans to possibly phasing the project into two, since the grant amount will not cover the added cost to change the improvement from Class IV to Class I facility. Project is included in the City of Eastvale's FY 2023-2027 Capital Improvement Plan (CIP). As of May 30, 2023, information regarding a design team or a general contractor is not available.
