Renovation of a transportation facility in Memphis, Tennessee. Design plans call for the renovation of a transportation facility.
https://www.bizjournals.com/memphis/news/2025/06/02/mem-airport-construction-to-affect-passengers.html Memphis International Airport (MEM) is undergoing a significant modernization under its Terminal Modernization and Seismic Program (TMSP), which is the largest capital project in the airport's history. The project, estimated at over $650 million, commenced in 2024 and is projected to conclude in 2030. _____________________________________________________________________________________ https://www.bizjournals.com/memphis/news/2025/03/20/memphis-airport-approves-modernization-design.html The Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority (MSCAA) has moved forward the design for the airport's terminal modernization and seismic program (TMSP). MSCAA unanimously passed a resolution at its March 20 board meeting to approve Memphis International Airport's latest TMSP design amendment. The current amendment is valued at $25.88 million to complete design development and construction documents for the TMSP project. Architectural, civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing engineering documents would come out of that design work. Before the new amendment, the board had approved about $32 million in contract and contingency expenditures on the project. That included 10% of the entire TMSP; design of the administration building, checked baggage inspection system, and outer-upper roadway; schematic design level for Terminal B's modernization, and assessment of the airport's transit tunnel. The contract amount ($56.71 million) and expenditure contingency equal $59.21 million for the currently approved TMSP design work. The project is expected to begin in 2027 following the completion of the outer-drive replacement project, the airport said. The designs presented at the board meeting (see below) are conceptual and might look slightly different once the TMSP project is completed. MSCAA president and CEO Terry Blue said the entire terminal modernization's cost is projected at $700 million. The design team is spearheaded by Memphis-based UrbanArch and Minneapolis-based Alliiance Architects. Other groups part of the team include HOK, CMTA, Kimley-Horn, Vic Thompson Co., Connico, and Faith Group. "It really does take a complete team to make sure that you cover every aspect of the project as complex as our terminal modernization and seismic program," Blue said. ________________________________________________________________ As of March 25, 2025 the project is in design phase. Memphis-Shelby County Airport Authority board approved conceptual design on March 20, 2025. The architects and construction manager has been chosen.
