Renovation of a municipal facility in Nags Head, North Carolina. Completed plans call for the renovation of a municipal facility.

Task 1: Provide repairs and improvements according to the Lead Based Paint Survey and Structural Assessment. INTRODUCTION The National Park Service (NPS) Cape Hatteras National Seashore (CAHA) has a requirement to repair the Bodie Island Maintenance South Building in Nags Head, NC. CONSTRUCTION SITE LOCATIONS The Bodie Island Maintenance compound is located at 506 Park Service Rd, Nags Head, NC 27959 Some deterioration has occurred since the structural observations were made in 2021. The Contractor shall verify the existing condition of the existing columns and beams in terms of the exfoliation and amount of oxidation of the steel support columns and beams and other steel components of the structure. Remove existing unsalvageable non-welded angle iron pieces installed over corners of the of the metal columns and beams on the exterior of the building. Replace angle iron which is unsalvageable. Temporarily disconnect the existing electrical conduit, wiring, and outlets providing power to the vehicle rinse rack. Temporarily support the electrical service to the rinse rack so that the vehicle rinse rack mayremain operational during this project. Power to the vehicle rinse rack may be temporarily turned off for no more than 1 day at a time to allow work on the column supporting the electric conduit serving the vehicle rinse rack. Relocate or route electric conduit and outlets to accommodate new columns and beams. Provide new columns and beams per the attached Structural Assessment. Due to coastal marine environment, new structural steel shall be factory coated per American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) / American National Standards Institute (ANSI) 303-16 and 360-16 adopted as part of the International Building Code. Coatings shall be for corrosive coastal marine environment. Carefully remove 13 courses of brick above the personnel door on northeast corner of building. Remove mortar from brick and save for reuse. Replace cracked, broken, and unusable bricks with new bricks of same size and color. Reset the courses of brick above the door. Set 2 rows of anchors, after 6 courses of brick and 12 courses of brick. Remove broken and cracked and loose mortar from east end of building, on the north, east and south sides of the building. approximately 450 linear feet. Clean the mortar joints as well as existing joints with missing mortar. Tuckpoint the mortar joints. Taper the existing mortar at the repointing locations. Remove wooden trim piece and 2 bricks shown in Figure 3 which are separated from the other bricks. Remove 3 bricks on the south side which are shown in Figure 3 above. Replace the broken brick with new brick of same size and color. Replace wooden trim with new trim of same size. Paint all sides with a primer and 2 coats of paint. Color shall be red to match color of existing adjacent paint and sheen shall be Satin. New paint shall be water based exterior 100% Acrylic paint. Latex paint or acrylic/latex blend will not be acceptable
