Demolition, site work, paving and new construction of a bridge / tunnel in Chicago, Illinois. Conceptual plans call for the demolition of a bridge / tunnel; for the construction of a bridge / tunnel; for site work for a bridge / tunnel; and for paving for a bridge / tunnel.

This project requires 22% DBE participation, or if the contract goal is not met, documented evidence of good faith efforts. The Complexity Factor for this project is 0.07. The Consultant who is selected for this project and all Subconsultants the Prime Consultant will be using are scheduled to attend an initial meeting on July 26, 2023, at 9:00 AM at the Region One/District One Office in Schaumburg. Phase II engineering services are required for the rehabilitation of the bridge structure carrying Kedzie Avenue over Calumet-Sag Channel. Rehabilitation includes, but not limited to, bridge deck, structural steel, substructure, and roadside barriers. The bridge deck and approach pavement will be reconstructed. The existing raised concrete median will be removed, and the curb and gutter will be replaced where needed. The Consultant’s work is expected to consist of preparing the type, size, and location (TS&L) and structure plans of the bridge structure as described above. The proposed improvement also consists of preparing plans, specifications and estimates to current standards and policies for the rehabilitation of Kedzie Avenue. There will be modifications to the intersection of Kedzie Avenue and 135th Street to improve safety. Other work may include topographic survey, modifying roadway geometry, drainage improvements, traffic signal modernization, improved navigation lighting, pedestrian and bicycle accommodations, and all other related work to complete Phase II contract plans. The method of contractor selection has not been determined at this time.
