The project is located in Pinal County along a 39.2-mile-long segment of the Central Arizona Project (CAP) canal from State Route 79, in Florence, AZ to Park Link Road, near Red Rock, Arizona. The goal of the project improvement is to develop 39.2 miles of non-motorized, multi-use recreational trail along the CAP canal. The proposed trail will utilize segments of the existing CAP maintenance road, existing dirt paths and new trails to establish a trail corridor that connects to the existing CAP Trail, which currently ends just south of Park Link Road. The project improvements also propose the development of up to three (3) trailhead parking areas for user access. This will require the installation and/or relocation of several miles of fencing and several access gates to secure the CAP canal and maintenance areas while providing access to the new trail. The work consists of installation of CAP security, CAP wildlife and CAP barbed wire fencing; CAP maintenance, vehicular and trail access gates; earthwork; paving; striping; concrete work; ramada structure installation; pre-engineered composting toilet structure; trial information kiosk; masonry; soil and stabilized DG paths; and other related work. The base bid for the improvements consists of the provision of all labor, materials and equipment needed for the new and/or modified fencing and gate improvement and the new South Florence Trailhead area at SR 79 and Salazar St. Question Due Date: MAY 19, 2023, BY 5:00 PM A staff member will be available on May 11, 2023 at 9:00 am to provide access to the project site at the proposed South Florence Trailhead located at Salazar Street and SR 79 in Florence.
