The Consultant who is selected for this project and all Subconsultants the Prime Consultant will be using are scheduled to attend an initial meeting on July 25, 2023, at 10:30 AM at the Region Two/District Two Office in Dixon. Phase III engineering services are required to provide a Materials Technician(s) (Office/Field/Lab) for various materials inspection for various projects in District Two. The Consultant will provide support for various IDOT materials functionality, technical office work, inspection, and field/lab processes throughout District Two. The position(s) will report directly to District Two headquarters located in Dixon, IL. each day to perform tasks and/or receive assignments, unless assignments are given in advance which require reporting to an alternate location. This work may involve working directly with contractors, producers, suppliers, local agencies and/or other consultants. The projects may consist of materials acceptance responsibilities, including sampling, testing, and documentation of test results of various materials such as: Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA), Portland Cement Concrete (PCC), aggregates, Recycled Asphalt Pavement (RAP), Recycled Asphalt Shingles (RAS), soils, pipe, precast & prestressed concrete, drill crew, MISTIC/CMMS, field inspection (construction sites, quarries, and utilities permits), and assisting with technical office work and nuclear gauges. Work responsibilities will include data entry of test results into the QMP and MISTIC Workbook or CMMS. The Consultant will review contracts for compliance with specifications and resolve issues with testing discrepancies of QC and QA documentation for contract compliance under supervision of District Two staff. The projects may also include plant and on-site inspections, sampling, transportation of samples, testing at jobsites and labs, overtime and night-time work as needed at the discretion of the department, and documentation and data entry of test results. The Consultant will carryout quality assurance duties defined in the contract documents, Bureau of Materials and Physical Research Policy Memorandums, the Manual for Fabrication of Precast Prestressed Concrete Products, the most current IDOT Bureau of Materials and Physical Research Policy Memorandum for Quality Control/Quality Assurance Program For Precast Concrete Products, and the Consultant Agreement. The Consultant will maintain records and submit documentation of QC and QA activities as required.
