The work shall consist of mowing grass along the ditches of Athabasca County’s non paved roads, as well as certain County facilities such as the Athabasca County Airport, the ALPAC connector, and the Grassland Connector. The mowing of the ditches helps the County with its obligations to the Weed Act as well as reduces future maintenance cost by controlling suckering trees etc. The maximum diameter of trees required to be cut will be one inch in diameter measured 4 inches above ground level. The highlighted areas on the map below are the areas that are required to be mowed. It will consist of about 411 miles of roadway.
