Description

Renovation of a detention facility in Lihue, Hawaii. Completed plans call for the renovation of a detention facility.

The work generally consists of providing Kauai Community Correctional Center with a new, pre-fabricated kitchen unit for food prep, cooking, and washing. Unit shall be fabricated off-site and transported to Kauai for final connections to utilities and foundation. Interior and exterior alterations include, but are not limited to, painting, new partition walls, doors, flooring, exterior stair and ramp, plumbing fixtures, HVAC replacement, fire alarm upgrades, and lights. A refurbished food service unit shall be provided which will be repurposed into expanded storage and staging areas. Temporary facilities shall be provided for storage, office, freezer, and refrigerator to service the kitchen since there is no shut down of food service allowed. Phasing the work is critical to ensuring that the jail meal services remain uninterrupted. To be eligible to submit a Bid, the Bidder must possess a valid State of Hawaii Contractor's license classification (s) B . *The value for this project is based on a financial range. The value is listed as the highest possible cost from the range provided by a stakeholder or official project document. the estimated construction cost is between $2.5 million and $5 million
