Site work for a water / sewer project in Abbott, Texas. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.

Sealed bids for the construction of New Sewer Line & Force Main Replacement for Abbott I.S.D. Relocating approximately 800 feet of 6" sanitary sewer and 800 feet of 4" force main with manholes and appurtenances. All questions must be submitted through electronically no later than 72 hours prior to bid opening Bid Bond, Certified or Cashiers Check in an amount not less than five percent (5%) of the total amount must accompany each bid as a guarantee that if awarded the contract, the bidder will enter into a contract and furnish required bonds and insurance. City of Abbott reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to waive any informality or irregularity in bidding, and award the most advantageous and cost effective bid. The work covered under this section of the specifications consists of furnishing all labor, materials, tools, equipment, and related items required to properly test all pressure pipes and gravity lines for workmanship and leakage, and of performing all operations required for disinfection of potable water transportation and storage structures. 2. TESTS FOR GRAVITY LINES: The Engineer will require the contractor to test for leakage, all pipe installations and laterals adjacent thereto by water test or air test as directed by the Engineer. 4. AIR TEST (LOW PRESSURE AIR TEST): The contractor may desire to make an air test prior to backfilling for his own purposes; however, the acceptance air test shall be made after backfilling has been completed and compacted. 3. WATER TEST (INFILTRATION OR EXFILTRATION): The total exfiltration as determined by a hydrostatic head test, shall not exceed 50 gallons per inch diameter per mile of pipe per 24 hours at a minimum test head of two feet above the crown of the pipe at the upstream manhole. When pipes are installed below the groundwater level, an infiltration test shall be used in lieu of the exfiltration test. The total infiltration, as determined by a hydrostatic head test, shall not exceed 50 gallons per inch diameter per mile of pipe per 24 hours at a minimum test head of two feet above the crown of the pipe at the upstream manhole, or at least two feet above existing groundwater level, whichever is greater. For construction within the 25 year flood plain, the infiltration or exfiltration shall not exceed 10 gallons per inch diameter per mile of pipe per 24 hours at the same minimum test head. If the quantity of infiltration or exfiltration exceeds the maximum quantity specified, remedial action shall be undertaken in order to reduce the infiltration or exfiltration to an amount within the limits specified. 2.1 The contractor will provide for water, personnel and all equipment necessary to make the required tests. If a section fails to pass the required leakage test, the joints shall be recaulked or remade or the sewer line relayed if necessary or other remedial construction shall be performed by and at the expense of the contractor, in order to reduce the amount of leakage to within the limits of the required test. Each test section shall be tested to insure no error in calculations or procedures. Tests are to be repeated until each section of the sewer meets the required leakage limits. When re-tests are required, the contractor shall be responsible for compensation to the Owner and the Engineer for time and materials.
