Remove and Replace Carpet Wind Cave National Park This is a Market Research Sources Sought Survey for Removing and Replacing Carpet Interested and Capable Contractors should complete the enclosed survey and return as per the instructions. Project Location: Wind Cave National Park, Hot Springs, South Dakot Project Description: This project will remove and replace approximately 14,000-15,000 sq ft of commercial grade high traffic carpet tile in the Visitor Center Administration Building (VC). This project will include all designated office and visitor use areas such as public use areas that currently have carpet on upper and lower VC levels, including one area that does not have carpet. This project will include the removal of the current carpet tiles and rubber cove base. Offices that have original wood baseboards will not be removed; these will stay in place. If shoe molding needs to be removed in these areas for carpet installation these must be re-installed after carpet installation. Contractor will be required to move furniture as needed, such as desks and file cabinets to complete carpet and cover base installation. The current exhibits in the public areas will all be removed by the National Park Service (NPS) staff prior to commencement. Contractor shall provide carpet tile for all flat surfaces and install according to industry standards using premium acrylic-based pressure sensitive adhesive specifically designed for carpet tile installation. Any type of caulking tube construction adhesive is not acceptable and will not be approved for this project. Contractor shall remove aluminum edging at three door entrances. Edging was previously installed for entrance mats that will not be used after carpet is installed. Directional guidance strip shall be installed centered along the required distance of approximately 100' from the bottom of the main stairs to the southeast foyer entrance doors. Carpet shall be removed from the two stairways from upper to lower levels and rubber stair treads shall be installed. There is no specific manufacturers product required but any product submitted must meet or exceed the specifications that will be provided: main stairway approximately 74" wide with 18 treads and rear stairway approximately 40" wide with 14 treads. Contractor shall be responsible for removal and proper disposal of existing carpet and cove base. The project will be phased based on NPS schedule requirements. Contractor shall provide 20 boxes of 15-24"x24" of spare carpet tiles for the park to use as needed for future repairs. Contractor shall provide all OEM manuals and warranty documentation for all materials that are used for this project, including carpet, rubber base, and adhesives. Carpet Specifications: Basis of Design: Mohawk Rome Collection Products of other manufacturers in compliance with criteria will be evaluated for acceptance based on material submittals and approved by the COR. Acceptable known manufacturers: J&J Industries, Interface, Mohawk, Tarkett (formerly Tandus-Centiva), other approved equals.
