The Woodstock Railyard Relocation & Expansion, from Crystal Lake to rural NW Woodstock, is a top priority of METRA, with solid support from RTA, PACE, McHenry County, McHenry County Council of Governments, City of Crystal Lake and City of Woodstock. The NEPA process is underway with engineering costs estimated at $11 million and construction costs estimated at $100 million. The project is included in the City's 2026-2030 Capital Improvement Program (CIP). As of February 28, 2026, further details have not yet been identified. *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP). A CIP is a financial schedule for short- and long-range projects which is updated regularly.
