Future upgrade to facilities within the University Health Network (UHN) Department of Supportive Care (DSC). TIMELINE: Request For Proposals has been issued by the University Health Network (UHN) Department of Supportive Care (DSC). The UHN is presently accepting proposals to refresh its existing strategic plan to ensure alignment with its programmatic efforts to achieve performance excellence in clinical practice, research, education and system operations. The purpose of this Request for Proposal (RFP) is to solicit proposals from experienced individuals, organizations or teams, acting as the Strategic Planning Consultant, to conduct a fair and extensive evaluation of the DSC strategic plan based on criteria listed herein as well facilitate the development of the next strategic plan. The DSC is an interdisciplinary department that spans across all sites of the UHN, administered through the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre governance structure. The DSC consists of three divisions. They are, Palliative Care, Psychosocial Oncology, and Cancer Rehabilitation & Survivorship. Together, they are dedicated to supporting patients and their families to have the highest quality of life possible, throughout and beyond the disease course. The DSC is a world-leading department with 160-plus multidisciplinary staff who see approximately 21,000 unique patients every year across the three divisions. Palliative Care, Psychosocial Oncology and Cancer Rehab & Survivorship. In 2021-2022, the department provided just over 11,000 consults and almost 50,000 follow-up appointments. The DSC is dedicated to continually adapting and advancing the care and services it provides to patients at the UHN. The DSC Strategic Plan 2020-2024 outlines the roadmap towards achieving new heights while navigating ever-changing external factors. As a world-leading program, it is committed to advancing the following priority areas through the 2020-2024 Strategic Plan: Integrate across the department, UHN and external partners to improve the patient experience. Standardize care models and pathways. Advance academic supportive care by expanding research and education programs. Establish a culture of wellbeing for the Department of Supportive Care. Improve the patient experience through technology and virtual care. These priority areas are central towards the DSC achieving the vision of meaningfully improving the lives of patients and families living with cancer and other serious illnesses locally and worldwide.
