As of August 31, 2023, an engineer has been selected and this project is in the design phase. It is anticipated bidding will commence mid-January 2024, with construction starting in February 2024. *The closed solicitation has been included below for reference: Reference Number 0000321245 Question Acceptance Deadline 06/08/2023 07:00 PM EDT Mark Wallis 303-289-8157 mwallis@c3gov.com Consultant will perform design Services to assist the City in achieving a desirable reconstruction of the intersection at E. 72nd Pl. and Monaco St. The Services for this 2023 project shall consist of Final Design for roadway intersection reconstruction at the intersection of E. 72nd Place and Monaco Street to include any drainage pedestrian, landscape and irrigation improvements. The intersection of Monaco Street and E. 72nd Place was previously reconstructed in 2010. That project’s scope consisted of installing brick pavers in a diamond-shaped pattern at the intersection and they were also used for the crosswalks and diagonal sidewalks. That project integrated brick retaining walls at all four corners that separate the diagonal sidewalks from the landscaped area while acting as a buffer for pedestrians. Landscaping included trees, shrubs and other plantings inside mulched areas between the curb and retaining walls. Since 2010, the City has discovered issues with the overall design and implementation of this project’s construction materials at the intersection and is pursuing a re-design followed be a reconstruction of the Derby intersection.
