Site work for a water / sewer project in Frostburg, Maryland. Completed plans call for site work for a water / sewer project.
The purpose of this project is to refurbish one of two treatment cells within the Coney Cleaners passive treatment system. The cell will be revamped by adding new limestone and piping to improve the effectiveness of the system in treating the existing acid mine discharge. The project will include removing all existing compost, metal precipitate, unusable limestone and burying it in excavated pits. New 85% CaCO3 limestone will be placed into the cell. As the limestone is being placed, a new perforated header pipe will be installed at the location and level within the bed as shown on the construction plans. All existing valves and water level control structures will be abandoned and replaced with an Agridrain for flushing and water level regulation. The project also includes replacing an existing acid mine drainage transfer pipeline with a larger pipe, new cleanouts, and a new flow regulation device at the Oak Hill passive treatment system which is located across the road from the Coney Cleaners site. The MBE subcontracting participation goal for this solicitation is: 0% The VSBE subcontracting participation goal for this Solicitation is: 0% The work shall be completed within 180 calendar days from the start date of the contract. If the work is not completed within the time period specified, the contractor will be liable for liquidated damages of $350 per calendar day as specified in the "General Condition".
