Renovation of a playground / park / athletic field in Newport News, Virginia. Conceptual plans call for the renovation of a playground / park / athletic field.

This project will provide for upgrading/refurbishing/replacing/repairing community centers, athleticfields, pools and sports courts throughout the City. Funding will include building renovations, field/court surfaces, scoreboards, bleachers, irrigation, fencing and related amenities. Fiscal Year:2023-2027 Specific projects include: 2023 - Renovations at Doris Miller Community Center (remove & replace windows, painting, floors, replace backboards & scoreboard in gym and update restrooms) - contingent upon new center/campus being built. Addition of a loft to the storage garage at Denbigh Community Center. Renovations at Brittingham-Midtown (replacing the carpet throughout the center, add an ADA compliant curb cut for the senior garden area, starting block platforms in the aquatic center). Replacements, repairs and addition of camera security system to North Newport News Senior Center along with relining the parking lot. Addition of a Pickleball Courts at Huntington Park. Fence additions and replacement, along with turf maintenance at selected athletic fields. 2024 - Renovations at Riverview Gymnastics Center; addition of a rock climbing wall. Addition of new athletic multipurpose field at Riverview Farm Park; tennis court resurfacing at various high schools. Resurface four tennis courts at Huntington Park Tennis Center. Replace and upgrade lights at the Achievable Dream Tennis Center. Renovations at Courthouse Way Community Center (Interior & exterior painting, update AV equipment, update restrooms, replace carpets, and heating/air repair or replace). Resurface Brittingham-Midtown pool deck. 2025 - Renovation and expansion of soccer fields at Dozier; resurface four tennis courts at Huntington Park Tennis Center and at various high schools; continuing building renovations at aging facilities; expansion of recreation fields at Sanford; repair seating and interior of pool at BMCC Aquatic Center. Fence additions and replacement, along with turf maintenance at selected athletic fields. 2026 - Renovations at Denbigh Community Center (painting, floors, replace carpet, replace backboards & scoreboard in gym and update restrooms); resurface four tennis courts at Huntington Park Tennis Center and an Achievable Dream Tennis Center; building renovations at aging facilities (senior centers, CWCC, BMCC); expansion of recreation fields. Addition/upgrade of security cameras at centers. 2027 - Expansion of soccer fields at Riverview Farm Park; resurface four tennis courts at Huntington Park Tennis Center and at various high schools; building renovations at aging facilities; maintenance and expansion of recreation fields; maintenance of decking and interior of pool at BMCC & DMCC Pool. Addition/upgrade of security cameras at centers. Fence additions and replacement, along with turf maintenance at selected athletic fields *Project information has been obtained through a public capital improvement plan (CIP).
